A Weekend to Remember at the 1st Annual Warrior’s Journey Classic
A weekend at Trump International and Mayacoo Lakes where the weather could not outmatch the inspiration, the stories, and the mission behind it.A weekend at Trump Internationalbecame more than a tournament.
What a weekend it was in South Florida. This spring, friends and supporters of The Warrior’s Journey gathered for the inaugural Warrior’s Journey Classic, and while the weather did not cooperate the way we had hoped, the inspiration and the mission of the weekend far exceeded the lightning, wind, and rain.
We kicked things off at the beautiful Mayacoo Lakes Country Club, graciously hosted by General Manager Michelle DeRoche and Head Golf Professional Brandon Holden. It was the perfect setting for our first Classic.
Dan Boever was absolutely outstanding. With a little creative thinking, we transformed the outdoor veranda into a driving range, and Dan put on a show that left everyone amazed and still laughing at some of the things that come out of that brilliant mind.
From there we moved into the clubhouse, where world-renowned artist Justyn Farano greeted guests alongside a wonderful charcuterie presentation. Dinner was a truly special experience, with the room beautifully set to reflect the heart of the evening, The Warrior’s Journey.
We were honored to hear from guest speaker John Nieporte, Director of Golf at Trump International Golf Club. His stories from more than twenty-five years working alongside President Trump were both insightful and memorable.
The evening continued with powerful words from Kevin Weaver, founder of The Warrior’s Journey, and Gabriel Axtell, USMC (Ret.). Gabriel, a MARSOC Marine, shared his personal journey of struggle and redemption through The Warrior’s Journey program. There was not a dry eye in the room as we were reminded of both the challenges our service members carry and the hope that is possible.
Mission Moment
The weekend carriedthe mission.
The weather, the golf, and the gathering all pointed back to the people this work exists to serve.
The Deeper Pattern
The tournament mattered because the relationships lasted beyond the weekend.

Mayacoo Lakes gave the first Classic a setting worthy of the moment: arrival energy, familiar faces, and the beginning of what is becoming a cornerstone annual fundraiser for The Warrior’s Journey Golf.

The weekend’s real momentum lived in the spaces between the formal moments: stories from the stage, conversations around the room, and a shared purpose that reached beyond the scorecard.
Monday’s weather limited our time on the course, but Trump International Golf Club once again proved to be an incredible host. When play was suspended for safety due to lightning, we were fortunate to have a remarkable backup plan.
World Golf Hall of Famer Dennis Walters delivered an unforgettable presentation. One of the most inspiring figures in the history of the game, Dennis shared a story of perseverance and resilience that left a lasting impact on everyone in the room.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who took part in this inaugural event. Because of your support, we were able to carry the mission of The Warrior’s Journey forward and make a meaningful difference.
We were also thrilled to secure a future date at Trump International Golf Club, and we cannot wait to do it again.

Trump International gave the weekend a powerful second chapter, and even when weather forced the day to adjust, the gathering kept pointing back to connection, resilience, and mission.

The Classic is already becoming more than an event on the calendar. It is becoming a yearly gathering place for supporters who want the mission to keep growing.
The Journey Continues
The day ends. The mission continues.
The weather may have tested us, but the weekend proved something greater. Healing happens in community, and no warrior walks the journey alone.
